Sharing Projectors

Visibility

We use the term Visibility when it comes to allowing others to view user’s videos & photos. When you think of sharing with people or connecting with family & friends, we encourage you to think differently in regards to Projector. Projector is private. Projector is not social media. Because of that, we believe sharing content is not about how many friends a user has or how many likes a video generates. It is about sharing memories with family members so they can enjoy viewing too.

Discuss with your User if there are actually videos in their Projector that they truly want to limit others from viewing. Our initial feedback is that just about every video uploaded should be made visible with all viewers. While creating private groups within Projector is easy to manage, it will make your process more efficient when creating Projectors to qualify if your user wants to restrict who has visibility to certain videos. We suggest initially in the Visibility section selecting “All Invited Viewers Can View” for each video, unless advised otherwise. This will assist you with your workflow process.

Inviting Viewers

Inviting viewers is easy and can be managed in the subscribers Content Dashboard. As an Authorized Affiliate, you should always log on to your Projector account and access User Management from the main menu (top right-hand corner).

Inviting Viewers Process:

  1. Collect all the email addresses for the viewers you will be inviting
  2. Sign into your Authorized Affiliate Projector account and navigate to User Management
  3. Click the “Access” button to the right of the account you will be setting up viewers. You are now in the user’s Content Dashboard (press the “Exit” button at any time to return to your Authorized Affiliate Projector account)
  4. If you want these viewers to also be managed and receive credit under your Authorized Affiliate account, you will need to create the account(s) prior to sending the invite. You do not need to enter payment information since they are initially just viewers. However, when this new viewer wants to have their own Projector account with their own uploaded videos & photos, you will get credit for their subscription and can manage accordingly.
  5. Click the + (plus) sign to the right of “Viewers Pending” to invite a new viewer to this account
  6. Add the email address
    • You can add more than one email address
    • Select the “Add” button
  7. Viewers will receive an email and must accept the pending invite
    • You will see the viewers as pending until they accept the invite
    • If the user was already a Projector activated account, they only have to accept the invite when they log back in, otherwise they will have to create a Projector account to be able to accept the invite (if you did not already create the account in step 4 above)
    • The invited viewer will not be required to purchase a subscription unless they want to upload their own videos & photos
  8. Once the viewer has accepted the invite, you will see them under “All Viewers” for that account

Creating Groups

If your user wishes to restrict All Viewers from seeing a certain video or photo album, then a group will then need to be created and that video or photo album will need to be assigned to that group. Once it is established that content needs to be restricted to certain viewers, a Group should first be created. There is no limit to how many Groups can be created. Once a video or photo album is assigned to a group, only users who are granted access to that Group, has visibility to that content.

Creating Groups Process:

  1. To create a Group, go to: Content Dashboard>Viewers>Groups
  2. Click the “New Group +” (plus) in the upper right corner
  3. Enter the Name for the new “Group” and select “Create Group”
    • Choose to name the Group that will clearly describe the purpose of this Group (i.e. “Extended Family”, “College Roommates”, “The Smith Family”, etc.)
  4. The Group is now listed under “Groups”. Select the down arrow to the right of the Group Name to add Group Members. Only those listed as “All Viewers” can be added
  5. Select which videos & photo albums you want added to this Group. You can also add a video or photo album during the initial uploading process in the Visibility step
  6. Users, Videos & photo albums can be associated with multiple Groups

Successors

Projector was created to solve the viewing of home movies so we can easily watch with just a few clicks on our TV remotes, just like we watch Netflix. Additionally, we want to make sure that these precious home movies & photo albums are preserved forever and can be passed on from generation to generation. Thus, we allow users to assign Successors to take over their account at a later date when necessary. An assigned Successor must already be an Active Viewer within the applicable account.

Assigning the Successor Process:

  1. To create a Successor, go to: Content Dashboard>Viewers>Successors
  2. Click the “New Successor +” (plus) in the upper right corner
  3. Enter the Name of the existing Viewer (you can add multiple names) and select “Add Successors”
  4. The name of the Successor is now listed
    • Projector will contact and assign the Successors as the new owner of the account in the order they are listed
